Access to Live Cricket Scores

  • Rob Cowie

Whilst it is possible to view the score of cricket matches in real time, it is very difficult to get at this data programatically.

Providing a customisable RSS feed, or XML-RPC server access to real-time scores would allow us to write small apps to display the data in customised ways.

It would be great with OS X widgets!

Yes *please*. I've been trying to (slightly illegally, I think) scrape Cricinfo's - but it's impossible. This would be very nice for my blog, too :) Endless possibilities - county scores, player-scores (or alerts when "A.Player" reaches a milestone) etc etc

Damn fine idea. An RSS feed of the realtime scores and other info (bowlers, batsmen, who's on strike, etc a la cricinfo) would be just fantastic.

I have used Cricinfo RSS feed and wrote a to provide a live scoreboard, have a look at the code in this blog entry (http://www.linuxgazette.com/node/10950).

Need less to say it will work on both window and gnu/linux if you have xmlstarlet(http://xmlstar.sourceforge.net) tool.

Cheers
