BBC Listen Live OSX Desktop Widget

The guys at BBC Radio and Music Interactive have launched the BBC’s first official desktop widget for Tiger OSX.

"BBC Listen Live" enables you to listen to nine of the BBC’s national radio stations via your desktop – an alternative to using the web-based BBC Radio Player.

Activate your BBC Listen Live widget to hear live radio from nine of the BBC's national radio stations without the need to turn a switch or load a webpage. And if that's not enough - why not pull out multiple widgets to represent different radio stations that you regularly listen to? Always present, always ready - it's like having a radio installed in your computer.

There are already a number of backstage.bbc.co.uk community members working on OSX widgets. Apple have created a whole swathe of new remixing opportunities with the release of their widget system.

So why not have a go yourself? All we ask is that you don’t include any BBC graphical branding to ensure that it’s clear to end users that your widget is a third-party proposition.

Do let us know what you’re working on, we’re always pleased to receive your emails!

It lacks a volume control. Any chance of adding one?

A great little widget. The interface is neat and well design and reflects each stations ident. The only thing I would like to see to improve it would be a separate volume control.

It's great to see the Beeb producing software tools for other platforms.

Is there an official BBC News widget being developed? I think the "Where I Live" box on bbc.co.uk would make a good widget too.
