I'd like to create a 3D colour \"wheel\" or sphere that students could explore to help them understand the relationships between colours and the inter-relatedness of hue, saturation and tone/value.
Skillset:
I've no idea how to create this as an online \"landscape\" that can be explored
Antony.

Could you describe how a student would interact with the landscape.
It might help to have a number of different levels whereby the student can start with a simple wheel to explore. After that they could take a colour and explore aspects of it like shades of the same colour etc.

I think a cylinder is a good idea. In the middle you ve got the grayscales, while the colours are on the outside of the cylinder.
The middle position got the absolute colors with middle gray in the center.
In case of exploring, it would be great to find the related platonic solids and Johannes Itten's emotional relation to colors.
Let me know, if you need help with 3D modeling. I am working in this area.
